Our Gym Guidelines for Young Members

Last Updated: 24 Jul 2025

We’re here to make sure everyone has a great time while staying safe and feeling supported. Here are a few simple things we all agree to when using the gym:

1. Be Kind and Respectful
I’ll treat gym team and other members with kindness and respect. I’ll listen to and follow any instructions from the team, they’re here to help!

2. Safety Comes First
Staying safe is super important. That means:
I’ll pay close attention during my (Get Going – Junior) induction and follow the advice I’m given.

I’ll only use equipment I’ve been shown how to use safely and that’s right for my age and size.

If I’m not sure how to use something, or I think something might be broken, I’ll let a team member know right away.

I won’t use free weights unless I’ve been taught how to use them properly by a qualified instructor.

I’ll be mindful of the space and the people around me.

3. Keep It Cool and Considerate
While I’m in the gym, I’ll make sure my behaviour and attitude help keep things friendly and focused:
- I’ll keep noise and distractions low and avoid messing around.
- I’ll always put equipment back where it belongs.
- I’ll wear clothes that are comfy and suitable for working out.

4. Supervision for Ages 12–15
If I’m between 12 -15, I know I need to come during special student sessions or bring along a parent or guardian (18+) if I want to come at other times.

During student sessions, I’ll follow the supervision rules given by the gym team.

5. Mandatory Induction for Ages 16–17
If I’m 16 or 17, I understand that a mandatory induction session is required before I can use the gym facilities without supervision

6. Speak Up If Something’s Not Right
If I see something that doesn’t feel safe, or if I have a concern, I’ll talk to a team member right away. They’re here to help!

Part 2: Health Commitment – Let’s Look After Each Other
We’re here to help you enjoy all the benefits of staying active, safely and confidently.

Please take a moment to read this so we’re in agreement.

Our Promise to You
We want you to feel supported, respected, and safe every time you walk through our doors. Here’s what you can count on from us:

1. Your Body, Your Choice
We’ll always respect your right to choose what feels right for your body. While we’re here to guide and encourage, we trust you to stay within your own comfort and ability levels.

2. Safe & Clean Spaces
We do our best to keep the gym clean and equipment in good condition, so it’s ready for you to use as it’s meant to be. Just keep in mind that we can’t inspect or clean everything after every single use.

3. Qualified Team
Our team are trained to industry standards (CIMSPA), so you can feel confident knowing you’re getting guidance from people who know their stuff.

4. Accessibility Matters
If you have a disability that requires additional support to use our equipment or spaces, let us know. We’ll do our best to explore any adjustments that can help make your visit easier and enjoyable.

Your Promise to Us
To help keep things safe and positive for everyone, here’s what we ask of you:

1. Know Your Limits
Only do what feels safe for you. If you have a health condition, or think you might, please check with a medical professional before starting anything new. Their advice is key to your safety.

2. Stay Informed
Please read and follow all gym rules, signs, and any safety instructions. Exercise always comes with some risk, and we trust you to make responsible choices about what’s right for you.

3. Say Something, Anytime
If you feel unwell or spot something that doesn’t look safe, whether it’s equipment or a situation, please let a team member know straight away. While our team isn’t made up of doctors, there’s always someone on hand with first aid training.

4. Accessibility Support
If you’ve shared that you have a disability, please follow any personalised guidance we’ve given you to help keep your workouts safe and effective.

Let us know if anything is unclear. We’re here to help you feel confident, safe, and welcome every step of the way.
